What is stained concrete?

Stained concrete uses acid-based or water-based stains to permanently color a concrete surface. Acid stains react chemically with the slab, creating marbled, translucent tones that never peel or flake. It works on both new pours and existing concrete, indoors and out.

No two acid-stained floors are alike — the stain reacts with the minerals already in your slab, so the finish is layered and organic rather than painted-on. For consistent, designer-specified color, we use water-based stains and integral pigments. Both are sealed for longevity.

Common Questions

Will the color fade?

Sealed acid stain is permanent — it's a chemical reaction, not a coating. Exterior surfaces need resealing every few years to protect the finish from UV.

Can you stain my existing patio or basement floor?

In most cases, yes. We evaluate the slab first; previous sealers or glues may need to be ground off.
